Wound Healing Institute Australia is a national organisation with the purpose of advancing and promoting public health to improve the life and health of Australians with wounds.

There are three main components to WHIA:

Education

WHIA runs an extensive education program that includes an on-line suite of accredited wound modules, customised face-to-face education that can be designed around an organisation’s needs and clinical courses that can be attended in person or via video link.

Practice

WHIA offers a Wound Advisory Service to assist clinicians, remotely, to provide evidenced-based wound management for clients/patients with acute or chronic wounds, in hospitals, residential aged care facilities, the community or home setting. Our service is available to anyone, anywhere across Australia..

Research

WHIA offers a wide research program that includes wound prevalence surveys, organisational support, publications and resources. WHIA can use clinical audit data to identify issues related to:

  • client/patient safety
  • policy and practice
  • clinical and patient education, and
  • strategic planning in relation to wound management
